NATO has published its annual report on defence expenditures across member countries, offering a detailed breakdown of military spending from 2014 to 2025. The data reflects both actual and projected payments made by national governments to support their armed forces, allied operations, and NATO-wide initiatives.

The report draws on figures submitted by each member’s Ministry of Defence, alongside economic and demographic data from the European Commission, IMF, and OECD. It highlights significant variations between national budgets and NATO’s standardized definitions, particularly in areas like equipment procurement and personnel pensions.

“Defence expenditure includes payments made to meet the needs of national armed forces, those of Allies, or of the Alliance,” the report states.

Estimates for 2024 and 2025 suggest continued growth in strategic investments, especially in major equipment and R&D. The cut-off date for data inclusion was June 3, 2025, and figures may diverge from those cited in national media or government budgets.
