Washington, D.C. The United States has formally congratulated President Irfaan Ali on securing a second term following Guyana’s national and regional elections. In a statement issued by Principal Deputy Spokesperson Tommy Pigott, the U.S. commended international observers, including those from the Organization of American States (OAS), for their impartial role in ensuring a transparent and credible electoral process.
Looking ahead, Washington expressed its commitment to deepening bilateral cooperation with President Ali’s administration. Key areas of focus include energy security and the protection of Guyana’s sovereigntyparticularly in relation to the contested Essequibo region.
