Pakistan’s national cricket team has shifted its focus to the upcoming Asia Cup after clinching a commanding victory in the tri-series final against Afghanistan and the UAE. Led by captain Salman Ali Agha, the squad delivered a dominant performance, defeating Afghanistan by 75 runs in the final, thanks to a match-winning spell from all-rounder Mohammad Nawaz.
Nawaz, who claimed 5 wickets for just 19 runs, also etched his name in history by completing a T20I hat-trick, becoming only the third Pakistani bowler to achieve the feat. His consistent form earned him the Player of the Series title, with 10 wickets and key contributions in the field.
“This series was tough, but our eyes were always on the Asia Cup,” said Ali Agha. “We’ve built momentum since the Bangladesh tour, and I believe we’re fully ready.”
Under the guidance of white-ball coach Mike Hesson, Pakistan has now won 10 of their last 13 T20Is, signaling strong form ahead of their Asia Cup opener against Oman on September 12.
With multiple spin options and rising confidence, Pakistan enters the Asia Cup as a serious contender for its third title, backed by a balanced squad and renewed tactical discipline.
