As Australia gears up to defend its title at the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025, veteran all-rounder Ellyse Perry has spotlighted the team’s enviable depth and evolving ethos. Speaking ahead of their ODI series in India, Perry emphasized the squad’s balance of seasoned experience and emerging talent—a formula she believes could be decisive in high-stakes conditions.

“We’re incredibly fortunate to have depth across both batting and bowling,” Perry noted, underscoring a strategic shift toward aggressive play from the outset. “There’s a real ethos in the group to take the game on early and keep our foot down.”

Despite notable changes since the 2022 World Cup, Perry sees a stable core forming, with young players stepping into pivotal roles. Among them, Annabel Sutherland stands out—averaging over 40 with the bat and under 23 with the ball in ODIs, and dominating The Hundred with 206 runs and 16 wickets.

Perry also praised Phoebe Litchfield and Georgia Voll, calling them “special talents” who complement the team’s veterans. “Annabel’s been superb, and she’s still so young. It’s exciting to see how she, Phoebe, and Georgia balance out our experience.”

Australia’s campaign kicks off October 1 in Indore against New Zealand, with Perry entering her fifth World Cup—bringing not just skill, but a legacy of leadership.
