Washington, D.C. President Donald J. Trump issued a formal proclamation today to honor the 24th anniversary of the September 11 terrorist attacks, declaring September 11 as Patriot Day and a National Day of Service and Remembrance.
In his statement, President Trump paid tribute to the 2,977 lives lost in the attacks on the World Trade Center, the Pentagon, and aboard Flight 93. He emphasized the enduring strength of the American people and the heroism shown by first responders, military personnel, and ordinary citizens.
“We will never forget the innocent lives taken, the families forever changed, and the courage that rose from the ashes,” the President said.
The proclamation calls on all Americans to observe a moment of silence beginning at 8:46 a.m. EDT the time the first plane struck the North Tower and to fly the U.S. flag at half-staff in memory of the victims.
President Trump also encouraged citizens to participate in acts of service, reflecting the unity and resilience that defined the nation’s response to the tragedy. He highlighted the importance of educating future generations about the events of 9/11 and the values of freedom, sacrifice, and national pride.
“Let us honor the legacy of those we lost by living with purpose, standing with strength, and serving with compassion,” the proclamation reads.
The White House ceremony included remarks from survivors, family members, and military leaders, reinforcing the message that the spirit of 9/11 lives on in the hearts of Americans.
