The summit, organized jointly by the Arab League and the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation, brought together leaders from over 50 countries to express solidarity with Qatar and the Palestinian people.

The airstrike, which occurred on September 9, hit a residential compound in Doha, killing six individuals including a Qatari security officer and injuring 18 others. The compound was reportedly hosting Hamas officials involved in ceasefire negotiations. Qatar condemned the attack as a violation of its sovereignty and a deliberate attempt to sabotage peace efforts.

During the summit, Qatar’s Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani described the strike as treacherous and reaffirmed his country’s commitment to mediation. Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan accused Israel of state terrorism and called for international accountability. Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed full support for Qatar and Palestine, urging unity among Muslim nations. Leaders from Iran, Iraq, and Palestine echoed calls for resistance and diplomatic pressure on Israel.

The summit concluded with a joint communiqué condemning Israeli aggression, calling for United Nations intervention, reaffirming support for Palestinian statehood, and rejecting forced displacement and settlement expansion in the West Bank.

The United Nations Security Council held an emergency session on September 11, where several member states criticized the Israeli strike. Although no sanctions were announced, the incident has intensified diplomatic tensions and prompted a shift in regional alliances, with Gulf states that had previously normalized ties with Israel now aligning with Qatar in opposition.
