Rome , Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni welcomed European Council President António Costa to Palazzo Chigi as part of his diplomatic tour of European capitals, which began on August 27.

The leaders held talks focused on major international issues, including the ongoing conflict in Ukraine and rising tensions in the Middle East. They also discussed preparations for key upcoming European events, notably the informal European Council meeting and the European Political Community summit, both scheduled to take place in Copenhagen on October 1–2.

The meeting underscored Italy’s active role in shaping EU policy and reaffirmed its commitment to regional stability and diplomatic engagement at the highest level.
