New York, As the world commemorates a decade since the launch of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), UN Secretary-General António Guterres urged global leaders to accelerate progress and bridge critical gaps in implementation.
Speaking at the SDG Summit, Guterres acknowledged that while some advances have been made, many targets remain off track especially in areas like poverty reduction, climate resilience, and equitable access to education and healthcare. He warned that without urgent, coordinated action, the promise of the 2030 Agenda could slip out of reach.
The Secretary-General called for renewed investment, inclusive policies, and stronger international cooperation to ensure that no one is left behind. He emphasized the importance of youth engagement, digital innovation, and gender equality as key drivers of sustainable change.
The SDGs, adopted in 2015, represent a global blueprint for peace, prosperity, and planetary health. This year’s summit serves as a pivotal moment to reignite momentum and reaffirm commitments across sectors and borders.
