Rome, In a powerful gesture of solidarity with global cardiovascular health efforts, Italy’s Palazzo Chigi was illuminated in red to mark World Heart Day 2025, joining international landmarks in raising awareness about heart disease prevention.
The initiative, promoted by the Italian Ministry of Health in collaboration with the World Heart Federation, aims to spotlight the importance of healthy lifestyles, early diagnosis, and equitable access to care. The red lighting symbolizes the urgency of combating cardiovascular diseases, which remain the leading cause of death worldwide.
Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni’s government reaffirmed its commitment to public health campaigns and preventive medicine, aligning with global efforts to reduce heart-related mortality through education, screening, and community engagement.
World Heart Day is observed annually on September 29, encouraging individuals, institutions, and governments to take action for heart health under the theme “Use Heart, Know Heart”.
