New York The United Nations has raised alarm over the deteriorating humanitarian situation in Gaza, calling for unrestricted access to aid and protection of civilians amid rising tensions and violence.

UN humanitarian chief Martin Griffiths emphasized that thousands of families are facing displacement, food insecurity, and medical shortages, with critical infrastructure under strain. He urged all parties to uphold international humanitarian law, ensure safe corridors for relief operations, and avoid targeting civilian areas.

The UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) reported that essential services, including water, electricity, and healthcare, are nearing collapse, and humanitarian workers are struggling to reach affected populations.

Griffiths called on the international community to mobilize emergency funding and diplomatic pressure to prevent further escalation and support long-term recovery efforts. He stressed that “humanity must prevail,” and that Gaza’s civilians must not be forgotten in geopolitical calculations.
