The European Union issued a joint statement from High Representative/Vice-President Kaja Kallas and Commissioner for Enlargement Olivér Várhelyi, expressing concern over recent developments in Georgia and reaffirming the EU’s commitment to the country’s European aspirations.

The statement addressed the Georgian Parliament’s decision to initiate impeachment proceedings against President Salome Zourabichvili, citing it as a troubling move that risks undermining democratic institutions and political stability.
