Sydney, 31 July 2025 — With the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup fast approaching, Australian captain Alyssa Healy has singled out India and England as the teams to watch. Speaking during a Cricket Australia event, Healy acknowledged her squad’s top ODI ranking but stressed that both rivals are poised to make serious challenges.
India’s advantage of playing at home and their consistent recent form caught Healy’s attention, while England’s resurgence under coach Charlotte Edwards was also noted. Australia, aiming to defend its title in India and Sri Lanka, faces the daunting task of winning in subcontinental conditions—a feat no team has accomplished in decades.
Currently recovering from a foot injury sustained at the 2024 T20 World Cup, Healy shared that she’s adjusted her wicketkeeping technique to reduce physical stress and extend her playing career. She is expected to make her return during the Australia A vs India A series.
The tournament kicks off on 30 September, promising high drama and fierce competition across all eight participating teams.
