The International Cricket Council has confirmed that Nepal will host the global qualifier for the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026, marking a major milestone for the country’s growing cricket scene. The tournament will take place from January 12 to February 2, 2026, with matches held at the Lower and Upper Mulpani Cricket Stadiums in Kathmandu.

Ten teams from around the world will compete for four coveted spots in the main event, which is scheduled to be held in England and Wales from June 12 to July 5, 2026. Bangladesh and Ireland have already secured their places in the qualifier based on their participation in the 2024 edition. Thailand and host nation Nepal earned their spots through the Asia regional pathway, while the United States qualified via the Americas region.

The remaining five teams will be decided through upcoming regional competitions in Africa, Europe, and East Asia-Pacific. Once finalized, the teams will be divided into two groups of five, followed by a Super Six stage and a final. The top four teams will advance to the World Cup.

This will be the first time Nepal hosts an ICC women’s global event, a moment that’s expected to energize local fans and spotlight the country’s commitment to developing women’s cricket.
