New York, August 3, 2025 — A mild earthquake struck the New York–New Jersey region late Sunday night, briefly shaking buildings and startling residents across the metro area.

  • Magnitude: 3.0
  • Time: 10:18 PM local time
  • Epicenter: Hasbrouck Heights, NJ — 13 miles north of Manhattan
  • Depth: Approx. 6 miles underground

Tremors were felt across all five boroughs of New York City, including Hell’s Kitchen, the Bronx, and Staten Island. NYC Emergency Management confirmed seismic activity but reported no injuries, damage, or service disruptions.

Officials say the quake was minor and no emergency alerts were issued, though residents are advised to stay aware of potential aftershocks.

This is the second seismic event in the region within a year. In April 2024, a stronger 4.8 magnitude quake shook the tri-state area — making tonight’s tremor significantly weaker.

📌 TWWnews is monitoring updates from USGS and NYC Emergency Management. No further alerts have been issued at this time.
