Vicenza,The U.S. Army Garrison Italy has launched the seventh edition of its AMICI program, a unique initiative designed to deepen collaboration and cultural understanding between American military personnel and Italian civilian employees.
AMICI short for American Military Italian Civilian Integration and meaning “friends” in Italian offers participants a hands-on experience of military life across key installations including Caserma Ederle, Caserma Del Din, Caserma Miotto, Aviano, and Camp Darby. The program aims to foster mutual respect, improve workplace synergy, and highlight the strategic mission of the U.S. Army in Italy.
Participants engage in immersive activities that showcase daily operations and logistical infrastructure. Giorgia Polo, a Contract Specialist with the 414th Contracting Support Brigade, praised the program for offering a broader view of garrison operations and enhancing inter-office relationships. She was particularly impressed by Camp Darby’s strategic layout, including its canals, railways, and nearby airport.
Leda Sartore, a Management Program Analyst in the Resource Management Office, described AMICI as a reaffirmation of her pride in the Army’s mission. “It shows where our piece of the big puzzle fits,” she said, emphasizing the complexity and importance of the work carried out by both military and civilian teams.
AMICI continues to serve as a forward-thinking model of integration, turning colleagues into collaborators and collaborators into trusted partners. Through shared experiences and open dialogue, the program builds a stronger, more connected workforce rooted in mutual respect and shared purpose.
