Washington, D.C., NASA and 11 international space agencies have signed a landmark document reinforcing their shared commitment to the Artemis Accords, a framework guiding peaceful and transparent cooperation in space exploration.

The newly endorsed document, titled “Understanding Regarding the Implementation of the Artemis Accords”, outlines practical steps for collaboration on lunar missions, space sustainability, and responsible behavior beyond Earth’s orbit. It was signed during the International Astronautical Congress (IAC) in Baku, Azerbaijan.

NASA Administrator Bill Nelson hailed the agreement as a milestone in global space diplomacy, emphasizing that the Accords reflect “common values” such as transparency, interoperability, and peaceful use of outer space.

The Artemis Accords, first introduced in 2020, now include 33 signatory nations, representing a growing coalition dedicated to advancing human exploration while safeguarding space for future generations.
