In a six-day diplomatic tour across Brazil and Colombia, Canada’s Minister of International Trade, Maninder Sidhu, met with top government and industry leaders to strengthen bilateral trade and investment. The visit focused on expanding partnerships in clean energy, critical minerals, aerospace innovation, and life sciences, positioning Canada as a reliable and forward-looking trade partner in Latin America.
In Brasília, Minister Sidhu held talks with Brazil’s Vice-President Geraldo Alckmin and Foreign Minister Mauro Vieira, reaffirming Canada’s commitment to sustainable growth and regional cooperation. The meetings also revived momentum for the Canada-Mercosur Free Trade Agreement negotiations. In São Paulo, he met with the presidents of Embraer and Eurofarma, exploring opportunities in clean aviation and pharmaceutical expansion.
In Bogotá, Sidhu promoted Canadian expertise in infrastructure, mining, and renewable energy, while celebrating a major aviation partnership between Colombia’s SATENA airline and Calgary-based De Havilland Aircraft of Canada.
