Mississauga, The Honourable Rechie Valdez announced the launch of Build Canada Homes, a new federal agency aimed at dramatically increasing affordable housing construction across the country. With an initial $13 billion capitalization, the agency will support large scale projects by leveraging public lands, offering flexible financing, and partnering with private developers.

Build Canada Homes will focus on building transitional, supportive, and deeply affordable housing for low income Canadians, while also expanding access for middle class families. The initiative will use modern construction methods like modular and mass timberand prioritize Canadian materials to boost domestic supply chains and create high paying jobs.

The agency is part of Canada’s broader strategy to double the pace of housing construction over the next decade, ensuring more communities benefit from sustainable and inclusive housing solutions.
