The Canadian Government has welcomed the release of the Future of Sport in Canada Commission’s preliminary report, marking a significant step toward reforming the country’s sport system. The report, based on extensive consultations, highlights urgent issues around safety, abuse, and inclusivity in Canadian sport.

Adam van Koeverden, Secretary of State for Sport, issued a statement thanking Commissioner Lise Maisonneuve and Special Advisors Noni Classen and Andrew Pipe for their work. He emphasized the importance of listening to survivors and acknowledged the courage of those who came forward to share their experiences.
“Abuse and maltreatment have no place in sport,” van Koeverden said. “We remain committed to building a safer, more inclusive sport system for all Canadians.”
