China has officially launched a new international cooperation initiative centered on its BeiDou Navigation Satellite System (BDS), unveiled during the 4th International Summit on BDS Applications in Zhuzhou, Hunan Province. The summit brought together global experts, government officials, and industry leaders to explore large-scale applications of BDS across sectors including transportation, agriculture, disaster relief, and smart cities.
The new initiative aims to deepen global BeiDou cooperation, enhance data sharing, and promote interoperability with other satellite systems. Chinese officials emphasized the system’s role in supporting sustainable development and digital transformation worldwide.
The summit featured keynote speeches, academic forums, and a technology exhibition showcasing BDS-powered innovations. Delegates from over 50 countries attended, reflecting growing international interest in China’s homegrown satellite navigation capabilities.
The BeiDou system, now fully operational, offers positioning, navigation, and timing services globally. Its integration into international infrastructure projects signals China’s ambition to become a leader in space-based technologies and digital connectivity.
