International Space Station, NASA astronauts Jonny Kim and Zena Cardman successfully captured Northrop Grumman’s Cygnus XL cargo spacecraft at 7:24 a.m. EDT using the Canadarm2 robotic arm, marking a key milestone in the Commercial Resupply Services 23 mission.
Launched on September 14 aboard a SpaceX Falcon 9 from Cape Canaveral, the Cygnus XL carried over 11,000 pounds of scientific investigations and cargo to support ongoing research aboard the orbiting laboratory.
Following the capture, mission control at NASA’s Johnson Space Center will guide the spacecraft into position for installation on the Unity module’s Earth-facing port. NASA is providing live coverage of the installation via NASA+, Amazon Prime, and other platforms.
