Brussels, The European Union and Türkiye held a high-level climate dialogue to strengthen bilateral cooperation on green transition, emissions reduction, and alignment with the EU’s climate goals under the European Green Deal.
Led by senior officials from the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Climate Action and Türkiye’s Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change, the meeting focused on carbon pricing, renewable energy expansion, and climate legislation harmonization.
Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to the Paris Agreement and discussed pathways for Türkiye to align with the EU’s 2030 climate targets, including potential collaboration on carbon border adjustment mechanisms (CBAM) and climate finance.
The dialogue also explored joint efforts in climate adaptation, disaster resilience, and regional environmental governance, signaling a shared interest in tackling cross-border climate challenges.
