Brussels– The European Union has commended the Republic of Moldova for conducting its 2025 parliamentary elections in a peaceful and orderly manner, reaffirming support for Moldova’s democratic institutions and European aspirations.

In a statement issued by EU High Representative Josep Borrell, the bloc praised Moldovan citizens for their civic engagement and recognized the efforts of electoral authorities to uphold transparency and integrity throughout the voting process.

The EU also acknowledged the role of international observers, including those from the OSCE/ODIHR, in monitoring the elections and contributing to democratic accountability. While noting areas for improvement, the EU emphasized its continued commitment to supporting Moldova’s electoral reforms, rule of law, and democratic resilience.

This statement comes amid Moldova’s ongoing efforts to align with EU standards and deepen its integration with European structures, following its candidate status granted in 2022.
