Jeddah, Saudi Arabia — 25 August 2025

The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) convened an emergency meeting of its Council of Foreign Ministers in Jeddah today, responding to the intensifying Israeli military operations in Gaza and the West Bank. The 21st Extraordinary Session, held from 25–26 August, brings together senior diplomats from member states to discuss coordinated action against what OIC leaders have described as “state terrorism and humanitarian catastrophe.”

Türkiye’s Deputy Foreign Minister, Dr. Nuh Yilmaz, opened the session with a strong condemnation of Israel’s plans to impose full military control over Gaza. He called the move a violation of international law and urged member states to take unified diplomatic and humanitarian steps.

OIC Secretary-General Hissein Brahim Taha, represented by Ambassador Samir Bakr, emphasized the urgency of securing a ceasefire, facilitating humanitarian access, and advancing the Arab-Islamic reconstruction plan for Gaza. He warned that Israel’s expansionist rhetoric threatens regional stability and undermines peace efforts.

Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister, Ishaq Dar, reaffirmed Pakistan’s unwavering support for Palestine. He rejected Israel’s occupation plans and called for immediate withdrawal from all occupied territories. Dar also advocated for unhindered humanitarian aid and the restoration of Palestinian rights, including the establishment of an independent state.

The conference follows weeks of intensified Israeli military operations in Gaza City, where famine, displacement, and civilian casualties have reached critical levels. A joint communiqué is expected to be released outlining diplomatic, legal, and humanitarian measures to counter the crisis.
