Rome, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni welcomed President Umaro Sissoco Embaló of the Republic of Guinea-Bissau for a high-level meeting focused on deepening diplomatic and economic cooperation between the two nations.

Held at Palazzo Chigi, the talks underscored Italy’s commitment to expanding its partnerships across West Africa. Prime Minister Meloni and President Embaló discussed shared interests in security, development, and regional stability, with particular attention to Guinea-Bissau’s strategic role in the Gulf of Guinea.

The leaders also explored opportunities for collaboration in infrastructure, energy, and cultural exchange, reaffirming mutual respect and a desire to build long term, people centered relations.
