Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni welcomed Moldovan President Maia Sandu to Palazzo Chigi for a high level diplomatic meeting focused on strengthening bilateral ties and addressing pressing regional challenges.

The leaders discussed Moldova’s path toward European integration and shared deep concern over recent escalations in Russia’s aggression against Ukraine. Notably, both condemned the latest wave of attacks, which reportedly breached Polish airspace, underscoring the growing volatility in Eastern Europe.

Prime Minister Meloni reiterated Italy’s steadfast support for Moldova, highlighting recent bilateral agreements on social security and mutual recognition of driving licenses as concrete steps toward closer cooperation.

This meeting marks another milestone in Italy’s commitment to fostering stability and democratic values in the region, while reinforcing its role as a key partner in Moldova’s European journey.
