Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni has held a series of diplomatic engagements aimed at boosting regional cooperation and addressing global challenges.

On August 1st, Meloni traveled to Istanbul for a trilateral meeting with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Libyan Prime Minister Abdul Hamid Dabaiba. The leaders discussed joint efforts to manage migration flows and enhance security coordination across the Mediterranean.

In a separate visit to Tunisia, Meloni met with President Kais Saied to review progress on development projects under the Mattei Plan for Africa. Talks focused on water and agriculture, including the TANIT project, which uses treated wastewater to restore farmland. Plans are also underway to open a regional agricultural training center.

Meanwhile, Meloni spoke by phone with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, urging an immediate ceasefire in Gaza and calling for unrestricted humanitarian access. Italy reaffirmed its support through the Food for Gaza initiative, which will help relocate 50 Palestinian civilians and deliver aid to affected areas.

The Italian government also responded to a recent EU Court of Justice ruling on migration policy, criticizing the decision to delegate enforcement authority to national courts. Officials described the move as judicial overreach into political matters.

Italy continues to support Ukraine in its defense against Russian aggression, maintaining humanitarian and military assistance.
