On August 9, 2025, Italy’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Antonio Tajani, joined his counterparts from the United Kingdom, Germany, Australia, and New Zealand in issuing a joint declaration opposing Israel’s decision to launch a new large-scale military operation in Gaza.
The statement, released in response to the Israeli Security Cabinet’s move on August 8, calls for an immediate and lasting ceasefire and urges the facilitation of humanitarian aid to civilians affected by the conflict.
🤝 United Call for Peace
The five ministers emphasized their shared commitment to a peaceful resolution, reaffirming support for a negotiated two-state solution. They described it as the only viable path to ensure that both Israelis and Palestinians can live side by side in peace, security, and dignity.
“We stand united in calling for restraint, dialogue, and a renewed commitment to international law and humanitarian principles,” the ministers stated.
