Memphis, President Donald J. Trump’s decision to deploy federal resources to Memphis has been met with widespread support from local residents, business owners, and elected officials, who view the move as a critical step toward curbing violent crime in the city.

The initiative includes the deployment of National Guard units and additional federal law enforcement personnel, aimed at reinforcing local efforts to restore safety and order. Community members described the action as “long overdue,” citing years of escalating violence and a lack of effective local response.

“I don’t even feel safe anymore except in places with security guards,” said one longtime resident. A restaurant owner added, “We’ve had to close earlier and earlier because there’s no traffic on the streets due to crime.”

Governor Bill Lee, Senators Marsha Blackburn and Bill Hagerty, and Representative David Kustoff all praised the federal intervention, calling it a vital partnership between state and national leadership. “We now have the resources to finally address an issue that has dragged on for way too long,” said Governor Lee.

The deployment is part of a broader strategy to “Make Memphis Safe Again,” with officials emphasizing bipartisan cooperation and long-term commitment to public safety.
