Cape Canaveral, Florida — NASA has invited accredited media to cover the upcoming launch of Northrop Grumman’s 23rd commercial resupply mission to the International Space Station (ISS), scheduled for mid-September. The Cygnus spacecraft will ride aboard a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket from Space Launch Complex 40 at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station.

Once in orbit, Cygnus will be captured by the station’s robotic Canadarm2 and installed on the Unity module’s Earth-facing port. The spacecraft is expected to remain docked for over two months, supporting a range of scientific investigations and crew logistics.

This mission will deliver research materials for semiconductor crystal growth, cryogenic fuel tank development, and pharmaceutical experiments aimed at treating cancer and other diseases. A specialized UV light system to prevent biofilm buildup is also included in the cargo manifest.

NASA moved up the CRS-23 launch date following damage to the cargo module originally slated for the CRS-22 mission. The shift ensures continuity in scientific research aboard the ISS, which has hosted humans continuously for nearly 25 years.

Media credentialing is open to U.S. journalists through August 27. Spanish-language coverage and interview requests are being coordinated through NASA en Español.
