Houston, Texas — NASA is set to introduce its 2025 astronaut class and offer a behind-the-scenes look at the upcoming Artemis II crewed mission around the Moon. The multi-day media events will take place this September at Johnson Space Center, with livestreams available across NASA+, Netflix, Amazon Prime, YouTube, and X.
After reviewing over 8,000 applications, NASA will announce its newest astronaut candidates on Monday, September 22 at 12:30 p.m. EDT. These candidates will begin nearly two years of intensive training for future missions to low Earth orbit, the Moon, and eventually Mars.
The following days will spotlight Artemis II — the first crewed flight of NASA’s Artemis campaign. Scheduled for no later than April 2026, the mission will send astronauts Reid Wiseman, Victor Glover, Christina Koch, and Canadian Space Agency astronaut Jeremy Hansen on a 10-day journey around the Moon aboard the Orion spacecraft and SLS rocket.
NASA will host briefings on mission systems, science goals, and deep space hardware, followed by a media day on September 24 featuring interviews with astronauts, engineers, and flight directors.
