Across Pakistan, citizens, leaders and armed forces came together today to commemorate the 60th Defence and Martyrs’ Day a solemn tribute to the heroes of the 1965 war and a reaffirmation of national unity in the face of evolving challenges.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif led the tributes, calling the day “a symbol of courage, unity, and resilience,” and praised the armed forces for their unmatched professionalism during recent operations like Bunyan-un-Marsoos, Marqa-e-Haq. He emphasized Pakistan’s commitment to peace, while warning against regional provocations and foreign-sponsored terrorism.

Military leadership, including Field Marshal Asim Munir and the heads of Pakistan’s Navy and Air Force, saluted the martyrs and reaffirmed their pledge to defend the homeland against all threats. Ceremonies across Azad Jammu & Kashmir echoed the same spirit, with prayers, rallies, and wreath laying at martyrs’ graves.

This year’s Defence Day coincides with Eid Milad-un-Nabi, adding a layer of spiritual reflection to the patriotic observance. Citizens across the country honored both the Prophet’s teachings and the sacrifices of Pakistan’s defenders, reinforcing a message of unity, compassion, and strength.

Despite ongoing flood emergencies, the Armed Forces observed the day with humility, extending support to victims and pledging continued service in times of crisis.

As Pakistan looks ahead, Defence Day 2025 stands as a living covenant etched in sacrifice, sustained by unity, and driven by the unwavering resolve to protect every inch of the motherland.
