Islamabad, August 14, 2025 — Pakistan commemorated its 78th Independence Day with vibrant displays of national pride, solemn reflection on its journey, and a collective call for unity and renewal. From the bustling streets of Lahore to the mountainous valleys of Gilgit-Baltistan, citizens across the country participated in flag-hoisting ceremonies, cultural performances, and community-led initiatives that underscored the nation’s enduring spirit.
President Arif Alvi and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif addressed the nation in separate televised messages, emphasizing the importance of democratic continuity, economic resilience, and social harmony. “Our strength lies in our diversity and our shared commitment to a peaceful, progressive Pakistan,” said the Prime Minister, urging citizens to play an active role in shaping the country’s future.
Major landmarks—including the Minar-e-Pakistan, Faisal Mosque, and Quaid-e-Azam’s Mausoleum—were illuminated in green and white, while schoolchildren, artists, and veterans took center stage in parades and exhibitions that celebrated Pakistan’s cultural tapestry.
This year’s theme, “Azm-e-Pakistan: United for Tomorrow”, resonated strongly with youth-led movements, civil society groups, and diaspora communities, many of whom organized digital campaigns and solidarity events around the globe.
Despite ongoing challenges—from climate vulnerability to regional tensions—Independence Day 2025 served as a moment of introspection and hope. Editorial voices across media platforms echoed a shared sentiment: that Pakistan’s future depends not only on policy reforms but also on civic engagement, innovation, and inclusive dialogue.
