Lahore , South Africa’s women’s cricket team delivered a commanding performance in the first ODI against Pakistan, securing an eight wicket victory as part of their build-up to the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025.

After Pakistan posted a competitive 255/2, anchored by Sidra Amin’s unbeaten 121 and Muneeba Ali’s 76, the Proteas responded with a record-breaking partnership. Marizanne Kapp (121)* and Tazmin Brits (101)* combined for an unbeaten 216-run stand, recovering from 43/2 and sealing the win in the penultimate over.

Brits made history by becoming the first woman in ODI cricket to score centuries against India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and Bangladesh. Captain Laura Wolvaardt praised the duo’s batting brilliance and the team’s disciplined bowling, which restricted Pakistan from reaching a projected 280+ total.

The win gives South Africa a 1–0 lead in the series, with the second ODI scheduled for September 19 in Lahore.
