After Pakistan’s narrow defeat to the West Indies in the second ODI, captain Mohammad Rizwan expressed faith in his bowlers’ ability to rebound in the upcoming series decider in Trinidad.

The rain-affected match saw West Indies chase down a revised target of 181, thanks to an unbeaten 77-run stand between Roston Chase and Justin Greaves. Pakistan’s part-time bowlers, Saim Ayub and Salman Agha, struggled under pressure, each conceding 33 runs in their spells.

Despite the setback, Rizwan defended the duo, noting their past contributions. “Saim didn’t have the best day, but he’s been effective in T20Is. Salman has also delivered for us before,” he said. Rizwan emphasized that team selection for the final match would depend on pitch and weather conditions, which have been unpredictable throughout the series.

The win marked West Indies’ first ODI victory over Pakistan in over six years. With the series now level at 1–1, both sides are gearing up for a decisive clash. West Indies coach Daren Sammy and captain Shai Hope reiterated their long-term goal of qualifying for the 2027 World Cup, viewing this series as a key step in their rebuilding process.

Hope praised his team’s adaptability, especially in the middle overs. “Chase and Greaves were outstanding, and Sherfane Rutherford gave us the momentum we needed,” he said.
