President Donald Trump announced plans to impose a fresh wave of sanctions on Russia following its most devastating aerial attack on Ukraine since the war began. The assault, which struck Kyiv’s Cabinet of Ministers building and several residential areas, involved over 800 Shahed drones, 9 cruise missiles, and 4 ballistic missiles, killing at least five civilians including an infant and injuring dozens.

Trump, speaking to reporters at the White House, said he was “not happy with the whole situation” and confirmed readiness to initiate a second stage of sanctions against Moscow. The move follows failed peace talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin last month in Alaska, which yielded no ceasefire agreement.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky condemned the attack as a “deliberate crime” and urged the international community to respond decisively. “The world can force the Kremlin criminals to stop the killings all that is needed is political will,” Zelensky posted on X.

The escalation has reignited calls across Europe and the U.S. for coordinated diplomatic and economic pressure on Russia, with discussions underway to bolster Ukraine’s air defense and accelerate post conflict recovery planning.
