As South Korea celebrates its National Day, the United States has extended warm congratulations to the Korean people, underscoring the strength of a seven-decade alliance rooted in shared values and mutual interests.

In a statement issued by Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Washington praised South Korea’s evolution into a resilient democracy and a vital economic partner. The message emphasized continued cooperation on global security challenges and economic prosperity.

“We look forward to working with President Lee Jae Myung and his administration to advance the ironclad U.S.–ROK alliance,” the statement noted.

The U.S.–South Korea partnership remains a cornerstone of stability in East Asia, with both nations committed to expanding collaboration across defense, trade, and emerging technologies.

South Korea’s National Day, observed annually on August 15, commemorates the country’s liberation from Japanese rule in 1945 and is marked by nationwide ceremonies, cultural tributes, and reflections on national progress.
