On 7 August 2025, the UK Intellectual Property Office (IPO) and the Intellectual Property Office of Singapore (IPOS) signed a new Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to continue and expand their collaboration on intellectual property matters.
The agreement reaffirms both offices’ commitment to sharing best practices in areas such as IP examination, finance, commercialisation, and business support. It also includes cooperation on emerging technologies and joint activities like conferences, seminars, and legal and regulatory updates.
The signing coincides with the 60th anniversary of UK-Singapore diplomatic relations and marks a decade since the first bilateral IP agreement between the two countries.
Adam Williams, Chief Executive of the UK IPO, stated that the renewed MOU strengthens the partnership and supports innovation and business growth in both nations. Mr Tan Kong Hwee, Chief Executive of IPOS, echoed the sentiment, emphasizing the importance of fostering a robust IP ecosystem.
The MOU takes effect immediately and will remain valid for three years.
