From July 28 to 30, 2025, the United Nations held a high-level international conference in New York to promote the implementation of a two-state solution for the Israel–Palestine conflict. Co-chaired by Saudi Arabia and France under resolution 79/81, the event brought together more than 120 speakers from member states and international organizations.

Delegates reaffirmed the right of Palestine to statehood and full UN membership, citing the original vision laid out in General Assembly resolution 181 (1947). Multiple representatives called for a just end to the decades-long denial of Palestinian independence, describing it as a historic injustice. Malta announced its intention to formally recognize the State of Palestine in September.

The conference also emphasized the importance of a legitimate and democratically elected Palestinian government in Gaza, explicitly excluding Hamas from future governance considerations. An outcome document will be circulated to member states for endorsement in the coming weeks.
