August 24, 2025 — In the heart of Ma’rib, Yemen, where displacement and migration converge in a landscape of hardship, acts of compassion are quietly reshaping lives. At the Migrant Response Point (MRP), frontline health workers like Dr. Nouf are delivering care to those who have endured unimaginable trauma.

After years in Aden’s private hospitals, Dr. Nouf relocated to Ma’rib with a mission: to serve those who couldn’t afford treatment. “Migrants who reach us are deeply traumatised,” she says, describing the physical and psychological toll of hunger, fear, and abuse along irregular migration routes.

Women often arrive with visible and invisible scars. Dr. Nouf listens, treats, and refers patients to specialised services, offering care for everything from infectious diseases to emotional wounds. “Helping them recover fuels my determination,” she shares.

Among her team is Khalid, a 22-year-old Ethiopian migrant whose own journey through desert crossings and rejection led him to Ma’rib. Once a hospital cleaner, Khalid now advocates for fellow migrants, translating and guiding them through the healthcare system. “I help because I’ve lived it,” he says. “Support makes suffering bearable.”

Together, this team offers more than medical aid—they offer dignity, protection, and hope. The MRP, sustained by international donors, remains a lifeline for thousands navigating the perilous path through Yemen.
